Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III on Friday ask to why the committee of Sen. Leila de Lima “wasted” its time on listening to the testimony of the witness Edgar Matobato, he said was irrelevant to the subject of the investigation on alleged drug killings related.
Pimentel said in an interview Matobato’s testimony is “off topic” , which take to investigate, the alleged extrajudicial killings and summary execution of suspected criminals is being linked to Duterte’s war on drugs..
“Nasayang lang ang 1 buong araw naten kay matobato na wala namanng contribution sa proposed Senate Resolution #9,”Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel said.
“Etong hearing namin, merong pinupursue na subject matter, hindi pwedeng kahit ano pag-usapan”
Pimentel, a close ally of President Rodrigo Duterte, denied the request of Lela de Lima’s committee holding the probe to be grant Matobato protective custody.
Pimentel said that the Senate has no witness protection program, and the is legislative body should be not grant the witness protective custody because of his testimony was not relevant to the probe.
Edgar Matobato a confessed hitman and also member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS), testified to Senate committee in justice and human rights that Duterte ordered the killings of many people during this term as the City Mayor of Davao
Pimentel said to Matobato testimony of alleged killing committed in the 1990 to 2013 in no way proves the supposed spate of extrajudicial killings under the administration of President Duterte.
“Hindi mo pwede sabihin sa korte na ina-accuse, akusado ko na pinatay nya si MR.X, ipapakita ko sa iyo na may namatay na A,B,C at dahil dito sya rin ang pumatay kay MR.X,”he said.
Leila de Lima earlier said that Matobato was presented to be a witness to be able to build a “pattern”
