Caramel and chocolate are pretty much perfect flavor combination. So it makes perfect sense that M&Ms is coming out with caramel variety, which will hit shelves on May 2017. But what took so long?
According to CnnMoney, it is complicated. The process took years to be perfect, because the LENTIL inside each M&Ms candy had never been filled with such soft center. Engineers had to figure it out how to keep the chocolates at the right consistency so it would not collapse or melt. Mars the parent company of M&M spent millions of brand new plant in Topeka, KS for the caramel candy. That process will take time. Which is why the candies wont go on sale until the spring
The team behind the M&Ms, which turned 75 years, say it is one of the biggest launches in its history. Caramel will be permanent addtion to the M&Ms line up, not a limited edition flavor. The candies are slightly larger than the original chocolate mil variety, and it has a soft and chewy consistency inside the hard candies shell.
