US Geological reported 7.8 magnitude hits central New Zealand causing a tsunami and damage the city.
The authorities warned the people about the developing of tsunami. Thousands evacuated their home and went to higher places it was told them that some places, the wave will reach to five meters yards.
Sarah Stuart Black, national controller at the Ministry of Civil Defense said, `The first wave arrived but we know that it is too early to say what is the impact been`.
`Our concern is what coming. Future waves is coming may be bigger than what come before`.
Rescue personnel, medical and Helicopters are already sent out by St. John Ambulance going to the epicenter of the earthquake. It’s 91 km in north east of Christ Church.
Series of tremors and aftershocks felt in some parts of New Zealand but there is no reports of casualty.
Some establishments are damaged according to Richard Maclean, spokesperson of the Wellington City council.
`We got reports of broken water pipes and a lot of things odd shelves and desk,` Maclean said on Radio.
The Geonet of New Zealand changed their estimation of quake from 6.6 to 7.5 magnitude.
