Do you ever wished that you could get paid to hang out in bed all day? Of course you have! For a few lucky candidates, NASA is currently on the lookout for the people to participate on their `Bed Rest Studies`, in which participants will have to stay in bed for 60 days.
The payment is pretty good too. Participants will get $100 000 just to hand out in bed.
In addition to sleeping, participants can also read books, play video games, watch TV and use their phones. As they long as they keep lying down. it is all good!
You are probably asking yourself why they are doing this experiment?, Well the experiments are meant to see how the body reacts to extended of periods rest for astronauts who are going on extended periods on space travel i.e Mars. NASA claims that `Head Down` bed rest is best wat to stimulate zero gravity space.
NASA says that the experiment is designed to achieve 3 things:
- Understanding how changing physiology in space may affect the process of certain missions.
- Understanding the impact of physiological state of their ability to perform a particular tasks.
- Preparing countermeasure combat any impairment that these physiological conditions may impose.
Experiment participants are broken-up in to 2 categories:
Exercising and Non exercising groups.
The exercising group, are free to exercise using special tools that help them stay active while still lying down. While non exercising group will stay completely at rest the entire time.
For the first 13 days non exercising subject and 21 days for exercising subjects, can move around in and out of bed within the bed rest facility.
During the entire experiment, heart, bone, and muscle tests, as well as tests of circulatory and nervous system.
