Malacañang declared that December 26 and January 2 2017 is a special non-working day in our country to `give the people opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their love ones and families.`
The declaration was made by the Proclamation No. 117 released on Wednesday and signed by acting executive secretary Menardo Guevarra.
December 25 and January 1 are regular holidays in the country. Both fall in a Sunday.
The presidential palace also directed the Department of Labor and Employment to issue a appropriate circular to implement the private sector.
