Tesla’s Model S breaks a world record to become the fastest-accelerating production car on the market. A new software update called ludicrous+ allowed Tesla’s Model S P100D to break the acceleration record at zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.275 seconds. Motor Trend magazine conducted the test and said this Tesla model was the fastest-accelerating car it’s ever tested.
The electric motor of the Model S gives it superior torque compared to gasoline powered vehicles. However, it loses out to its competitors at higher speeds due to the higher horsepower of internal combustion engines. Top end models from Ferrari and Porsche pull ahead of Tesla at 70 and 80 miles per hour marks respectively.
There is one more catch, however. If want to experience that world record-breaking acceleration for yourself, it’s going to cost you almost ₱6 million.
