YouTube star PewDiePie loses his Disney and YouTube Red deals. The famed YouTuber, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, lost the deals over anti-Semitic videos posted to his YouTube account. Disney-owned Maker Studio cut ties with him on Monday, February 13, after a Wall Street Journal report cataloged the series of controversial videos.
The report found nine of his videos posted on his YouTube channel to have either anti-Semitic jokes or Nazi references. That was not the only company to end a deal with PewDiePie. YouTube Red decided it would not continue with a second season of his show, “Scare PedDiePie.”
According to a YouTube Spokesman, the company decided to cancel the release of season two and would remove PewDiePie’s channel from the Google preferred advertising platform. Currently, PewDiePie’s YouTube channel boasts over 53 million subscribers, and according to The Guardian, Kjellberg earns an estimated $14 million per year.
