The power of social media has helped a hungry teenager, defeat an A-list celeb, break a Guinness World Record and win a year’s supply of free chicken nuggets. That’s right, chicken nugget boy is the winner in the fight for the “most re tweeted tweet ever.” On may 9, Twitter announced that Carter Wilkerson, aka “chicken nugget boy,” claimed the record.
This all started when the restaurant Wendy’s set Wilkerson a target of 18 million re tweets, to claim free nuggets. But reaching that extravagant number, meant surpassing Ellen DeGeneres record for the most re tweeted tweet ever, which she held for this iconic selfie. When the re tweet count got close, DeGeneres pulled out all the stops to prevent Wilkerson from breaking her record, but his tweet, with 3.5 million re tweets, won in the end. DeGeneres has been left to bow out gracefully.
Moral of the story, don’t mess with hungry teenager.
