The very long time request of Cleveland cavaliers main point guard was already granted after a Cavs management agreed to trade Kyrie Irving for a deal in sending Isiah Thomas the star guard of Boston Celtics.
Shams Charania of The Vertical reported on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) that the Eastern Conference rivals have completed a trade that featured a swap of starting point guard, with Irving landing in Boston in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and a first round pick the Celtics got in a previous deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN had reported earlier on Tuesday that both teams were ‘nearing a deal’ finalizing a few details before agreeing to the trade. Then he would later tweet that the deal was already confirmed.
Since Irving asked the Cavs for a trade, the Celtics were considered one of the possible destinations with its number of assets.
